AquaCivics™ by Aquagenuity®

Bring your community to the table.

An AquaCivics™ table is a 75-minute conversation for 6 to 12 people: neighbors, parents, coworkers, classmates. We bring the local water data. You talk through what’s at stake, and everyone leaves with one thing they’ll do.

How a table runs

Four parts. One voice at a time.

Every table follows the same order, in a living room, a classroom, an office or a place of worship. It opens with the ground rules and closes with the eight questions.

  1. 15 minSource

What this place’s water means to me. Everyone answers once.

  2. 20 minSignal

We read your Local Water Brief together. Aquagenuity® brings the data.

  3. 20 minStakes

The trade-offs, out loud: what we gain, what we risk, who pays and who decides.

  4. 10 minStep

One commitment each, one community ask, one Guardian sign-up.

The eight rights

The spine of every table.

President Kennedy named four consumer rights in 1962. The United Nations added four in 1985. Every table closes with one question for each, answered anonymously and counted in the Water Rights Index™.

  1. 01The right to safetyThe water that reaches my tap won’t harm my family.Kennedy · 1962
  2. 02The right to be informedI can see what’s in my water, in words I understand.Kennedy · 1962
  3. 03The right to chooseI have real options: filters, sources, a say in who runs my water.Kennedy · 1962
  4. 04The right to be heardMy voice counts when decisions about water are made.Kennedy · 1962
  5. 05The right to basic needsClean water I can afford, even when disaster comes.UN guidelines · 1985
  6. 06The right to redressWhen water harms us, someone answers for it and makes it right.UN guidelines · 1985
  7. 07The right to educationI know enough to protect my family and to teach others.UN guidelines · 1985
  8. 08The right to a healthy environmentThe rivers, air and soil around me stay clean for the next generation.UN guidelines · 1985

The Menu

Choose what’s going on where you live and the Menu suggests the topics that fit. Combine up to three into one table and get a minute-by-minute plan you can copy and share.

Who can host

Most tables need no training.

Every topic on the Menu carries a host level, so the hardest conversations get the most support.

Anyone can host

Any Guardian can host these topics with the digital host kit. No training needed.

Certified Host

These topics need more background. Hosts finish a short self-paced course first.

Trained facilitator

Topics that can divide a room, like data centers or fluoride. A facilitator trained by Aquagenuity® runs the table.

From World Consumer Rights Day through UN World Water Day and Earth Day to UN World Environment Day. It’s when Guardians across the country gather baseline data in their own communities, at tables and with their own water records, to keep our models accurate. You can host anytime.

Questions hosts ask

Before you host.

What’s a table?

One AquaCivics™ conversation: 6 to 12 people, 75 minutes, one voice at a time. Every table follows the same order: your stories, your local water data, what’s at stake, and one action each.

Do I need to bring data?

No. Aquagenuity® brings the data in your Local Water Brief. You read it together and question the numbers, not each other.

What are the eight questions?

Every table closes with the same eight questions, one for each consumer right. Answers are anonymous and are counted in the Water Rights Index™.

What happens with what we say?

Your words may be shared. Your name never is. No sponsor sets the agenda, edits what’s said or sees anyone’s answers. Every community gets back the data it helped create.

Is it political?

Water is not a political issue. It’s a human issue. Every table is neutral.

Guardians of H2O™

Every table starts with one Guardian.

Guardians host tables, answer the eight questions and bring their communities the data they helped create.
